If you are planning a home remodeling, a bathroom renovation can be a great starting point. However, the process can be both nerve-wracking and exhilarating. For many homeowners, bathroom remodeling is an excellent home project where you can add in your personal touch.

Mixing more than two different materials such as metals, woods and tiles is going to make your bathroom look like a sample room.  Follow a simple rule of thumb for mixing fixtures: Use materials that complement each other. Flow and sophistication in a bathroom come from repetition; this is even more important when you only have a small space you are working with.

3. Little ventilation

Make sure you invest in a high-quality ventilation that runs at least 15 minutes after you step out of the shower. Doing this will not only help in reducing condensation but also prevent moisture creating bubbles in paint, grout and metal in the bathroom. Further, without ventilation, humidity gets trapped in the space and can createmold and mildew deposits. Even if you have a window, a fan can make a huge investment for air exchange. 

4. Improper spacing

If you are planning a bathroom renovation, don’t forget to focus on spacing. Simply focusing on the design rather than function can create big problems. Leave decorating for later and first consider the layout and spacing you are working with. Make sure you have enough space for incorporating a standard toilet and other plumbing.

5. Picking the wrong materials

A bathroom goes through a range of conditions everyday. From sudden temperature shifts to high moisture content to molds and other things. To prevent your bathroom from extreme conditions, make sure to pick bathroom-friendly materials. Pick tiles and a bathroom vanity that can survive humidity and moisture.

6. Choosing dull lighting

A standard bathroom often has a small footprint, making lights extra important to create a soothing and functional space. While you can go for pot lights as they make perfect shower lights, they are not ideal for brightening up a space. So, make sure you select bright lights for the entire bathroom. 

7. Overlooking minor flaws

It could be small cracks in new tiles or a gap between the bathroom vanity, but overlooking small errors will become very obvious in such a small space. When the renovation process begins, make sure you fix all major flaws that you may have been overlooking.
