Understanding Solar Powered Roof Ventilation

During Summer, your may find your room is too warm. Finding a reason to why that happens can be a challenge. Did you know that your roof could be the problem?

But how can you improve ventilation through your home without getting a new roof? A solar-powered roof ventilator might just be the answer to making your home more comfortable.

Is there any importance of ventilating your roof?

Roof ventilation not only cools your roof cavity and keep it at optimum temperature but also keeps your roof space healthy. If your roof is poorly ventilated, condensation will occur leading to decay and growth of mold on your roof cavity.

As much as roof ventilators keep your roof cavity well ventilated, they are not air conditioning units.

Solar powered roof ventilation can have a significant impact on your house especially when your roof reaches 60 degrees, and the external temperature is 35 degrees.

Installing solar powered roof ventilators

You should consider a roof fixing component when installing the roof. Since roof installation is a quick job, most roof installers will charge you $100.

You don’t need any maintenance if you have a solar powered roof vent. This solar powered roof ventilator can cover different areas depending on its throat diameter and the size of the solar panel. Always look at the manufacturers’ website to find out more information about it.

The motor of the solar panels slows down on overcast days. Your roof cavity will not, therefore, be hot because there will not be any direct sunlight that will be heating your roof up.

You should note that the solar panel cannot work in the absence of sunlight. It cannot, therefore, work at night.

What about during the Winter?

During the winter, you still need ventilation to reduce moisture build up. You can install a thermostat control switch if your home lacks insulation. During the Winter, the thermostat turns the unit off.

Rafael Niesten

Written by Rafael Niesten

In his early 20s, Perth local Rafael Niesten, won a scholarship to study in Canada, with that came the opportunity to volunteer at a local radio station. That spawned his entrepreneurial streak, returning to Perth in 2001 he set up community radio Groove FM. More by luck than design, they became successful, too successful as they took a significant chunk of the Perth Market. This sent up the red flag with his commercial competitors who saw to it that he came before the Australian Broadcasting Authority and on technicalities such as the number of volunteers he was forced to move on. He received the citizen of the year award for Western Australia (youth) and was a finalist in the Australian of the year awards (Youth). Falling on his sword he turned to running small and large scale events, all the while buying, renovating and selling properties. Buying and selling land and renovated houses provided a grounding in the property industry. He founded a cloud based medical grade voice recognition company, followed by co founding the first true cloud application for private practice in the health sector. He successfully exited these ventures at the end of 2016 and began building Bricks+Agent.
