5 Surprisingly Simple Tech Hacks To Boost Your Productivity

smart-725843_1920Being a property agent isn’t an easy task. You probably put in long hours at work and still try to keep up with your responsibilities over the phone while at home. There is just an endless list of things that you’re responsible for, and chances are this tremendous load of work takes a toll on you.

We take a look at a few simple tech hacks that can boost your productivity at work:

1. Stop multitasking

No, we aren’t talking about playing your favourite songs in the background while you try to balance your trust accounts. However, if you happen to be the kind of person who believes they can work while simultaneously taking a call, then we have news for you. According to some experts, this decreases your productivity by a massive 40%. Switching between tasks creates mental blocks that prevent you from focusing on any of the tasks. This is why muting your phone makes up for a wise idea while at work.

2. Keep a tab on you online activity

If you return home only to continue working on your pending tasks from the day, then it means one of two things. Either you’re genuinely under too much workload or just weren’t productive enough throughout the day. There are tons of apps on the iOS/Android application stores that can help you keep a tab of your online activity. Along with the websites you visit, these apps also let you know how much time you invest there.

3. Use parental controls

Once you trace your online activity, it is time to monitor it. It is possible that your friends keep tagging you in ‘relevant’ memes throughout the day which hinders your work. Irrespective of what device you use to access the internet, you can use the inbuilt parental controls to restrict these websites.

4. Integrate you 'feed'

Of course, not all websites that you visit throughout the day are meaningless. You could be someone who regularly reads or accesses content relevant to your job. However, you do spend a lot of time visiting each of those websites individually in search of new content. Apps like FeedR allow you to see the content/articles/videos from all these websites in a single place. All you need to do is subscribe to the website’s RSS feeds.

5. Force yourself to take breaks

Your productivity is undoubtedly going to lower if you are tired at work. This is why it is imperative for you to take frequent breaks that will also help to break the monotony. In fact, follow the 20-20-20 rule that doctors recommend. This is for all the people who spend a lot of time working on the computer. To prevent straining your eyes, take a break every twenty minutes and look 10 metres away from your computer. Blink your eyes 20 times in a calm and composed manner.

These were just some of the best tech hacks that can potentially make your job easier by boosting your productivity. For more useful insight and advice sign up to our newsletter below!

Stepping out of the industry four years ago and moving interstate to expand a frozen yoghurt chain that has gone from 1 to 4 stores in the time he has been involved. This was recently sold to Made Group. Real estate has always been in his blood and it was a natural fit to start Bricks + Agent given the amount of insight he has into the industry as a whole. Having seen how all different forms of traditional marketing was used to the direction that it is now heading today, we think we have come up with a truly unique proposition that fits into the current state of the property maintenance market.
